As election day nears, the Wall Street Journal looks into a political mystery on Google’s results pages. Search for “Barack Obama” and you’ll get suggestions in your subsequent searches on terms like “Iran” and “Medicare.” Put Mitt Romney’s name into the search bar and you no customized links are populated. The Journal says there’s no evidence that Google is intentionally biasing their results, noting that it’s an example of how “how mathematical formulas, rather than human judgments, influence more of the information that people encounter online.”
