Expensive Pie: US Pecan Prices Soar

Pecan prices have risen sharply, and you can blame China. Officials with the Georgia Pecan Commission tell the Atlanta Journal Constitution prices are fueled by a new appetite for pecans in China. An official says 10 years ago “they didn’t even know what pecans were.” That demand has combined with a smaller crop to push pecan prices up to $2.34 a pound.
