Etiquette: Does Google Belong at Dinner

The New York Times puts a great question to etiquette experts: is it OK to Google at dinner? The article notes this isn’t about checking your e-mail at dinner. That’s clearly a no-no. But if Google is used to “not escape a conversation but to enhance it” there’s more latitude. The story doesn’t produce a firm answer, but many people were in favor of “bringing truth” to dinner. Yet one downside, says author Bruce Feiler, is that Google tends to define a clear winner in a dinner-table dispute. Sometimes an argument is better left unresolved.
