Dallas-Fort Worth’s Many Cities Lay Claim to Super Bowl

There’s a sibling rivalry going on in Texas. In the lead up to the Super Bowl, the several cities included in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are all jockeying for the limelight. The Dallas Morning News says that “middle child” Arlington is “stuck between the two larger scene-stealing siblings,” despite the fact that it’s actually hosting the game. Arlington’s mayor just began a “media blitz” hoping to clue fans in to the big game’s real location.

And don’t forget about “baby brother” Irving, says the Morning News, (I guess by their own calculations, that would make Dallas the big brother) which is hosting the Green Bay Packers. Even towns far away from the spectacle are trying to cash in. Enter a news release just sent out by the city of Hillsboro, that claims “football fans are taking a look just 85 miles from the stadium and a world away from the chaos and high prices to Hillsboro, Texas.”
