Is a crotch grab in football a dirty play or just part of the game? That’s the question the Kansas City Star goes after in today’s paper after a Chiefs’ player was fined $10,000 for grabbing an opponent’s nether regions during a scrum. Some say players are taught an “anything goes” attitude from an early age, which allows those with a “with a dark side and willing fingers to fire away.” So does the fact that few players were a jock strap these days. Others say an inadvertent grab is the least of a player’s worries on the field: “People are there to see violence. Violence is going to happen.”
