Comcast-NBC Deal Sparks Debate, Concern

The Washington Post frames yesterday’s announcement that Comcast will take over NBC Universal as a “battle for television access.” Consumer rights groups are worried that the deal will consolidate too much power in one company. The New York Times has a great piece that focuses on whether or not TV shows should be available for free online. (TV exec’s daughter says she doesn’t need a TV in her dorm room because she has a computer.)  And David Hinckley of the New York Daily News says the deal is good for someone: Tina Fey. In case the “30 Rock” comedian’s well of GE jokes was running dry, she now has an empire to ridicule.
