Chicago Basketball Team Sparks National Immigration Debate

An Illinois high school has found itself in the middle of a media firestorm after announcing it would pulls its girls’ basketball team out of a tournament in Arizona, due to the state’s controversial immigration law. The school district includes a large Hispanic population says the Chicago Tribune and the school’s superintendent said the decision to cancel was based on concern for “some of our students’ safety or liberty.” That didn’t stop Sarah Palin from encouraging the players to rebel. “Go rogue, girls,” she said in an interview. Rush Limbaugh and Whoppi Goldberg have also weighed in.
