California Raisin Industry Takes on Craisins


Politicians aren’t the only ones creating smear ads this year. The LA Times says raisin growers are paying $5 a ton “to finance a $1.5-million anti-Craisin campaign.” Yes, it’s a fruit smack down.  Apparently, both the raisin and cranberry industries are vying for lucrative state subsidies. Last week the raisin lobby unleashed a website called “Let’s Keep it Real,” which showed mothers learning “the truth about Craisins.” What is that horrible truth? That cranberries are split in half and injected with sugar before becoming craisins.
