Cable Networks Stars of TV

Interesting explanation of the changing TV landscape in today’s LA Times. Cable shows like (my favorite) Showtime’s “Homeland” wouldn’t have been viable a decade ago because they didn’t bring in the audience that shows on a major network demand. But thanks to the new economics of the TV industry, cable networks have show a willingness to dump money into a show not for Nielsen ratings but for critical acclaim, Facebook likes and ultimately, power.
