BYU BBall Player Kicked Off Team For Having Sex


Can you imagine if every college athlete was suspended for having pre-marital sex? That’s exactly what happened to one of Brigham Young University’s star basketball players says the Salt Lake Tribune. Brandon Davies was suspended from the team after admitting he had violated the Mormon school’s honor code by having sex before marriage—with his girlfriend.  According to multiple sources, Davies admitted his “transgression” to something called the Honor Code Office earlier this week. In addition to kicking him off the team (which was poised to do well in the upcoming NCAA tourney) BYU officials are debated whether to kick Davies out of school.

Bill Plaschke of the LA Times commends BYU for their strong stance, despite the fact that it will likely cost them a shot at the NCAA championship. He writes: “Kudos to the school for publicly enforcing it at the worst possible time with one of the most visible of students while risking damage to the school’s athletic reputation and national stature.”
