Bringing Sexy Back to Mom Jeans

Almost a year after President Obama received so much flack for his “mom jeans,” a Chicago company is trying to make a line of jeans that “fit middle-age hips and thighs while still looking cool.” Henry-Lee and Co. says because America’s “denim culture” was born in California, “the land of facelifts and celebrities,” many of the styles and cuts don’t take into account the baby-boomer consumer says the Chicago Tribune. One woman of a certain age describes jean shopping this way: “It’s a nightmare. You have to go first thing in the morning before you’ve eaten. You simply can’t try on jeans at 4 in the afternoon, unless you’re 16 years old. For the rest of us, it’s an 8 a.m. call.”

The Henry-Lee and Co. line of jeans is called Henry & Belle and is due out this August.
