Atlantis Lands Safely, Shuttle Program Becomes Part of History

The shuttle Atlantis touched down at 5:56 this morning, marking the end of NASA’s 30-year program. The Orlando Sentinel says “in the faintest glimmer of dawn” Commander Chris Ferguson steered the shuttle to a “flawless” landing. Ferguson thanked the other iconic shuttles—Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Endeavour—and the one he piloted “for protecting us and bringing this program to such a fitting end.” VIDEO
