Amazon Readies to Wear High Fashion


Amazon announced its arrival as a player in the high fashion game by sponsoring the Met’s Costume Institute Gala last night. As the New York Times puts it: “Having wounded the publishing industry, slashed pricing in electronics and made the toy industry quiver, Amazon is taking on the high-end clothing business in its typical way: go big and spare no expense.” Example: Amazon has three women on staff who do nothing but try on size 8 shoes and make notes about whether they fit big or small or just right.
