Airlines See Safest Year Since 1945

There’s an amazing airline safety statistic on the front page of the New York Times this morning. The paper says a US flier could travel every day for 123,000 years before being involved in a fatal crash. Experts say last year was the safest for air travel since 1945. In 2012 there were only 23 deadly accidents and 475 fatalities, compared with 42 accidents and 1,147 fatalities in 2000.
