After-Gym Showers Washed Down Drain

Cursive, cassette tapes, perms—lots of things have faded from the high school scene since I was a student. But after-gym showers always seemed like they would remain a constant. Not so. According to the Orlando Sentinel, today’s students would rather “stink than bathe in front of their peers.” In an era where privacy seems more tenuous than it did a decade ago, school administrators say kids are worried about having their, well, privates exposed. And in the face of potential lawsuits many schools don’t force the issue.In the words of one gym teacher, They prefer, quite honestly, to take one when they get home, and I trust that they do. Trust and hope.”
