AAA Recommends Rear-Facing Child Seats Until 2 Years

Good luck getting the kids to go along with this. AAA is pushing parents to leave their kids in a rear-facing car seat until age 2, reports the Columbus Dispatch. The auto association has plenty of evidence that kids are better off in crashes in the rear-facing position, but I’m skeptical that a 23-month old will play along because that’s old enough to loudly complain about not being able to see anything. Until now, the common practice has been to turn kids into a forward-facing seat at one year or 20 pounds.
