3 Step Plan For Gun Control

Former New York City police commissioner Howard Safir has a well-argued guest column about gun control in today’s New York Daily News. Safir’s proposal for tighter gun laws is a three-part plan, all of which are easy to implement and not particularly onerous on the law-abiding gun owner: First, ban assault rifles and high-capacity magazines, with no exceptions. Second, require gun owners to purchase liability insurance, a move that makes gun ownership more of an investment. And third, require yearly inspections of all guns, a measure that would ensure the original owner is still in possession of their firearms.
