WSJ Makes News Alerts more DVR-Friendly

Sometimes it’s the little things that mean a lot.  I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that the Wall Street Journal has made a subtle change in the way it sends out e-mail news bulletins.  When the newsworthy event is a competition, the Journal is consistently careful to avoid revealing the result in the first line of the e-mail.  For example, this is the alert I received about the Kentucky/Kansas game:

Presumably, the Journal was thinking about those who may be watching the program on a DVR and are a little behind “real time.”  Obviously you can only insulate yourself from the NCAA score or the Oscar winner for a few hours, but it’s nice to have a paper working with, and not against you.
