The Waffleizer

He is known as the “waffleizer.” And no, that doesn’t mean he dates waffles. It means that Dan Shumski, a freelance writer, has taken the question, will it waffle?, and applied it to a host of things not usually destined for a waffle iron. I read about Shumski in a Chicago Tribune profile this morning. He has waffled chocolate chip cookies and made tons of waffleburgers. But I was most impressed to read about his “Bibimbaffle” experiment, in which he threw the Korean staple, bibimbap (a bowl of rice, vegetables and meat with an egg on top) on a griddle. Not only does the result look delicious, Shumski might have created one of the best food names I’ve ever heard in the process.
