Pat Picks His Top Ten From Most Beautiful Actresses List

“The 50 Most Beautiful Women in Film.” That’s a hard headline not to click on. I didn’t even try to resist when I saw it on the LA Times homepage. And I’ve got to say, the resulting list is interesting. There are the women you might expect, like Grace Kelly, and some you might not, like Blake Lively. And then there are some names, like Louise Brooks, that I’d never heard before. 

The Times did a really nice job presenting their list—when you scroll over each name a video pops up with highlights from each woman’s career. But judging by the comments, it’s hard to please everyone. Ingrid Bergman seemed like the list’s most upsetting omission, though several people were equally mystified that Lauren Bacall didn’t make the cut.

Just to complicate things, I decided to compile my own list. I tried really hard to not be biased by my age. But I couldn’t get past it. I was drawn to the actresses whose movies and red carpet photos I’ve seen year after year. For better or for worse, here’s how I thinned it out:

Julia Roberts
Charlize Theron
Lana Turner
Brigitte Bardot

Faye Dunaway
