My Daughter is Humming the Friendly Giant Theme

My daughter Maeve was humming a tune on the weekend.

I asked “How do you know the Friendly Giant theme?”

She gave me a blank stare.

I followed up. “What was that song you were humming?”

“It’s some English folk song. We’re playing it in music class.”

She may be a Canadian citizen. But she’s never experienced the Friendly Giant. So to her “Early One Morning” is just a song on a sheet that the music teacher handed out.

I concluded our conversation by saying “Look up. Waaaaay Up.” Blank stare again.
