Honoring Hometown Heroes

We’ll be back to our regular schedule on Wednesday, but this morning I’m taking a day off work to help honor the many men and women who make this city running smoothly.  The first
annual
Hometown
Heroes
Transit
Awards were supposed to happen last year but were postponed because of Hurricane Sandy.

Three months later, the New York Daily News, in partnership with the MTA and the Transit Workers Union, will recognize several people for their service. One of my co-presenters at this morning’s event, Daily News editor‐in‐chief
Colin
 Myler, says, “In
many
ways
they
are
 silent,
 unsung
 heroes.
They
are
 New
York’s
lifeline.”
 I totally agree.
