Why Angry Birds is So Addicting

Why is Angry Birds so addictive? The Wall Street Journal, which claims “not since the invention of bacon and eggs has the collision of fowl and swine tasted so good,” says the appeal of the popular iTunes download is the combination of cute characters with simple rules and “a reward system to make players feel good.”

Called ‘casual games’ by industry folk, games like Angry Birds are “defined by the ease with which they can be picked up,” which makes them perfect for playing in short bursts anytime or anywhere, something referred to as “entertainment snacking” by the gaming industry.
