Roast Your Own Coffee

For the DIY enthusiast here’s a new project to try: roasting your own coffee. The Oregonian says all you need are some green beans and either an air-popper or a skillet. A word of warning: disable your smoke alarm or keep a fire extinguisher handy because the beans will let off a lot of smoke. If you want to use regular beans, an air-popper is necessary to ensure the coffee is evenly roasted. If a skillet is all you have in your arsenal of kitchen cookery, opt for peaberry beans which are round and will toast evenly.
