Obama On Tip Toes to Honor Ex-Celtic Bill Russell

There’s a great photo on the front page of the Boston Globe this morning. It’s of President Obama struggling to fasten a Presidential Medal of Freedom around the neck of Celtics legend Bill Russell during a press conference yesterday. Russell was an “outspoken crusader for civil rights” who the Globe says had a “complicated and often bitter relationship with the city to which he brought 11 championship banners.”  The president told the crowd he hoped “that one day, in the streets of Boston, children will look up at a statue built not only to Bill Russell the player, but Bill Russell the man.”
