MIT a Hotbed of ‘Extreme’ Origami


At MIT, paper folding is anything but child’s play. The Boston Globe says the school is gaining a reputation as a “hotbed of ‘extreme’ origami.” The complex designs draw on “high-level mathematical and engineering skills to create mind-blowing works of art.” Because so many students come to MIT with strong mathematical backgrounds, it’s only natural that simple cranes would give way to things like a 17-foot-long paper triceratops.
