Man Says Scorpion Bit Him Mid-Flight

A Portland man says he was bitten by a scorpion while en route from Seattle to Alaska, reports the LA Times this morning. The man says he was trying to sleep when he felt something climb up his sleeve and sting him. Two doctors on board checked him out and determined the injury wasn’t life threatening. The flight originated in Texas, where officials believe the scorpion stowaway got on board. Alaska Airlines says this is the first instance of a “poisonous creature” surreptitiously boarding one of its flights.

The man’s girlfriend told local Portland news station KPTV she didn’t his story—until he showed her his attacker, squirming in a cocktail napkin:
