Fish Stabs Woman

As far as ocean predators go, a small fish seem pretty far down on the list. A Florida woman, however, might beg to differ. The Miami Herald says she’s in stable condition at the hospital after something called a houndfish jumped out of the water and stabbed her, puncturing her lung in the process. Wildlife experts say it’s uncommon but not unheard of for houndfish to attack humans, especially when they feel threatened. They are often the prey of sharks and barracudas and to protect themselves, have learned to jump out of the water quickly.
