Doggie DNA Targets Poop Scofflaws

A Florida condo association is hoping a DNA test will succeed where its “Curb Your Dog” signs have not. The Sun Sentinel reports that the 458-unit building will start charging residents a $200 fee. The money will be used to test the DNA of every dog that lives in the condo, which will then be added to a database. Residents will be charged $1000 if any poop found on the property matches their pet’s DNA. Not everyone’s a fan of the new policy. As one resident told the paper: “This is nuts. They will be testing all kinds of poop. Is this America?”  But apparently, it’s a real problem. The building’s management says it spends between $10,000 and $20,000 a year cleaning up after the condo’s canines.
